What you are trying to do
Each player receives two hole cards. Five community cards appear in stages. You build the best five-card poker hand from any mix of those seven cards, then compare it with opponents who stayed in.
How a hand unfolds
- Blinds post, then two hole cards are dealt
- Pre-flop betting
- Flop: three community cards, then betting
- Turn: fourth community card, then betting
- River: fifth community card, then final betting
- Showdown: remaining players reveal; best hand wins the pot
